Colour, creativity and Craftsmanship will be key features at Decoration + Design in Melbourne from Thursday July 19 to Sunday July 22 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, Southbank.
Decoration + Design is Co-located with Furnitex, DECORATION + DESIGN is the premier interiors event in Australia and brings together an unrivalled range of soft furnishings, outdoor decoration, artwork, homewares, objet d’arts, lighting, interior accessories and much more.
Visitors will have the opportunity to preview forthcoming trends and collections from over 180 Australian and international exhibitors and hear seminars from leaders in the design community.
Additionally, LIGHTSOURCE will sit alongside DECORATION + DESIGN as a special feature, showcasing the latest lighting products and technologies for commercial, retail, industrial and outdoor spaces.
A number of acclaimed exhibitors will make their return to DECORATION + DESIGN this year, including Jennifer Dumet.
Inspired by nature, Jennifer’s stylish modern homewares in organic forms are perfect for creating impact in modern interiors.
Her collection, designed in Melbourne, includes decorative accessories, furniture, pottery and ceramics.
Bloomingdales Lighting & Decorator Accessories is also a must-see.
The company’s display will feature a wide range of chandeliers, pendants, tables and floor lamps in classic, deco, modern and contemporary designs.
Additionally, there will be an exclusive range of hand-made lamp shades.
Noted as one of Australia’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Businesses (BRW Magazine, 2010), One World Collection (see above images) will bring the latest of its global designs to Australia.
Although founded in London, the company has increasingly embraced the Australian aesthetic to keep its new designs fresh and exciting, and is sure to be a hit on our shores.
Those looking for striking floor dressings will not be disappointed. Designed in Melbourne and woven in India, World Weave is the shared vision of designer PieroGesualdi and textile designer Sara Thorn.
The label draws on their combined wealth of experience working with traditional artisans, and all rugs are handwoven using natural, sustainable fibres.
Exhibiting for the first time in 2012 are new label Walter G, offering an eclectic range of high end, handmade textiles and soft furnishings.
Working with skilled hand dyers, block printers and weavers of India, designers Lauren Bennett and Genevieve Fennel bring colour and pattern to people’s lives through objects such as chairs, cushions, lighting and stools.
Continuing the Indian inspired trend are Villa Inde, whose collection is a vivid range of handcrafted rustic, distressed and industrial furniture, made lovingly from recycled wood.
The illuminating LIGHTSOURCE feature, alongside DECORATION + DESIGN, will display the latest in lighting within its two focus areas; Lightsource Design and Lightsource Technology.
Exhibitors will include high-end Melbourne brand Lucretia Lighting, feature lighting specialists Tribe Design and internationally acclaimed Eco Rising Lighting (China), creators of eco-friendly LED Lighting.
DECORATION + DESIGN’s resident Trend Forecaster Genty Marshall will again curate DESIGN FUTURES, an installation focusing on upcoming trends and inspirations.
Barbara Marshall’s outdoor feature will also be a key attraction at this year’s fair. More information on these exciting features will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Held concurrently will be the inspiring DESIGN:MADE:TRADE, an exhibition featuring 90+ innovative exhibitors from a range of furniture, fashion, textile, graphic and industrial design brands.
DESIGN: MADE: TRADE will host a program of workshops, talks and exhibitions at the nearby Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne, 19 - 22 July, 2012.
Visitors to DECORATION + DESIGN will also have the opportunity to attend the International Industry Seminar Series.
Two international speakers have already been confirmed; MilouKet of Milou Ket Styling and Design (Netherlands) and Beau McClellan (Portugal).
The full program will be confirmed and released in the next few weeks.
Hotel + Hospitality Furnishings, a feature dedicated to designs for hotels, motels, clubs and restaurants, will be another key attraction at the fair.
The latest products and trends for this industry will be unveiled.
