Our second blog on Decoration + Design features just a taste of the wonderful soft furnishings at the July fair.
This category was well represented and truly did have something for every taste from organic neutrals to bright, electric, funky designs.

Country House Manuka is the official distributor for Jules Pansu and Georg Jensen Damask in Australia and New Zealand.
The workmanship in this company’s products is just magnificent and an affordable investment in furnishings that will stand the test of time.
The Picasso collection is produced under licence with the Picasso foundation.
The foundation painstakingly reviews and revises each tapestry and cushion design until it is a true representation of the featured artwork before being approved for production.
Jules PansuTapestry House was established in Flanders, France in 1878.
These Halluin Tapestries are all woven on Jacquard looms and offer true art lovers works of distinction made in the purest French tradition.
Such is the quality of the Pansu Tapestries, 3 of the Pansu staff are what is known as "Best Craftsmen in France".
This is a distinction awarded by the Ministry of Labour, Commerce and Industry in France only to the best artisans in their field.

We fell in love with the delightful animal cushions and fun designs such as the Ha Ha cushion above (my favourite) and the unhappy looking hound in drag.

Georg Jensen Damask combines 250 years of weaving tradition with bold new visions, demonstrating both respect for history and a quest for renewal and transform this into a stylish collection.
Behind the damask collection is large number of designers signalising their individual style and inspiration.
Since 2000 Georg Jensen Damask has been Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark. The range consists of a unique collection of classic and stylish table, bed and kitchen linen.
The weight of the tablecloths is luxurious as is the sheen and texture of the damask.
Country House Manuka also launched the new collection of Georg Jensen bed linen at this fair.
To touch was bliss!

Much admired at Decoration + Design were the newest fabrics and soft furnishings from Mar Paso Trading.
The fabrics in the two images directly above are stocked in 3 colours: milk white, flax & pewter.
The original structure is very sheer and retained by dry cleaning. When washed the fabrics assume a very crushed, 'crunchy' soft handle.
To create this effect, throw into the washing machine with some fabric softened at temp 40C & thence onto the line or into the dryer.
The amount of heat applied affects the degree of 'crunch' Our images show the fabric in original, sheer structure and in washed format.

'Mandalay' bed linen shown above is available in optic white, oatmeal, grey stripe, grey mist and fig.
It has a soft, crushed handle, can be washed in the machine and can be tumble dried.
Too easy and too beautiful.

The above fabrics have been hand loomed on old wooden Baltic looms.
Mar Paso keeps a small stock, some of which were on display at the fair. They can be ordered in widths of 170cms with a minimum order of 10 metres.
Fantastic colour and texture combinations including linen and metallic.

We did love the soft grey blue soft furnishing on the Theo & Joe stand which complemented their furniture collection beautifully.

Top Marks to Walter G for a wonderfully innovative way to show of its terrific collection of fabrics.
Founded by Sydney friends, Lauren Bennett and Genevieve Fennel, Walter G dropped in on the Australian design scene in early 2011, so the company is a relative newbie on the scene and a welcome addition.
Walter G produces an eclectic range of high end, handmade textiles and soft furnishings, designed and made in both India and Australia.
Lauren and Genevieve were initially struck by the lack of colour in the everyday lives of people living in Australia and the Western world in general.
They attributed this to individuals’ diminished sense of familiarity and confidence to engage with intricate and brightly coloured pieces. Working with the skilled hand dyers, block printers and weavers of India, Walter G aims to foster a movement that reintroduces colour and pattern to western consumers by using everyday objects as a conduit.
Walter G is inspired by the creative use of colour and imaginative combinations of patterns found in Indian textiles and the conviction with which the Indian people have employed these patterns and colours in everyday life for countless generations.
Big ticks from us girls. Congratulations.

Pure Linen Pure Linen’s new season collection was a dreamy combination of textures and colours ... wedgewood blues and soft browns and neutrals combined with crisp white in soft pure Eruopean linens. The picture at top left is from Pure Linen’s new catalogue.

Is it a sign of the times? Everyone is into signs at the moment, from positive affirmations and bus signs to random thoughts and comments.
Indigo Red has a particularly charming and just damn cute collection of these and some very original cushions from Chainstitch, Cushion Queen Marram Studios and Random Retail.

We loved the Well Bred collection of framed dog posters which give a few words of description about various breeds.
I think I have to get myself a dachshund, or a French Bulldog, or a Labrador ... or one of each.
Indigo Red’s collections of homewares and gifts are sourced from around the world. The products have an emphasis on UK based designers, incorporating inspirational design.
The company focuses on contemporary design with a vintage style and offer an exceptional array of cushions, prints and framed vintage memorabilia - designed to suit all types of design décor in Australia, the UK and Europe.

Above are some of our favourite prints from the Freshly Squeezed collection.
But this one just tickled my fancy to end today’s blog. For further information contact Rosanna Pappalardo on 0437 090 156 or sales@indigored.com.au Click here to visit the website.
