I recent met Lisa Wright, owner of African Trading Port Pty Ltd at one of the recent trade fairs and was impressed with her wonderful range of rustic yet contemporary handcrafted African homewares which she collects on her frequent trips there.
Mud Beaded chandelier - The chandeliers are made up of over 6000 hand crafted and unique beads.
The beads are made of clay from African soils and held together by an individually styled and handmade wire skeleton.
They come in 3 sizes – large 120 (h) x90cm dia – medium 100cm (h) x 76cm dia - Small 75cm (h) x 60cm (dia) - $2400 (ex GST)
Mud Beaded Stool – A cousin of the Mud Beaded chandelier. Each stool contains over 1000 hand rolled mud beads, wired to a metal frame skeleton.
This is an extremely comfortable and durable stool as well as a piece of art.
Vanilla Beaded Doughnut chair – These amazing chairs are made in Kwa-zulu natal on the coast of South Africa.
Each chair takes 3 months to make. The beads are local seeds, cowrie shells and recycled glass beads, handstitched onto a thick upholstery fabric wrapped around a handmade wooden frame with nylon infill.

Sisal Lamp with Recycled glass shade - These amazing lamps have a reclaimed sisal wood base with hand blown glass and chain shade.

Mohair “rasta” cushion: The Rasta cushion is made in Swaziland from local angora goats.
The mohair is then bleached, rolled and hand sewn onto a nylon filled floor cushion.
Various sizes are available.

Wonki Ware - Wonki Ware was started by Di Marshall in 1999 in George, a town on the Garden Route of South Africa. With each item individually handmade, Wonki Ware has developed a character that is unique, practical, fashionable and most importantly, is of good quality.
