Contemporary African art is recognised in Europe and America with dedicated galleries in major cities. Until recently, traditional tribal art was considered the main expression of African culture. Today, the works of contemporary artists give a unique perspective on a blended traditional and modern Africa.
Our art includes works by internationally recognised artists and emerging artists seeking a platform to exhibit their work. We want to improve the artists’ working environment so they can continue creating art. We do this by working with artist cooperatives, sponsoring awards at exhibitions and sourcing direct from artists located in remote areas.
Sanaa Afrika and the community
We support initiatives by non-profit organisations who aim to improve living and working conditions of Africans in their own country and in Australia. We do this by donating items for fundraising, exhibiting artwork created by Africans in Australia, and involving the African community in opening events.
